A Doll Bed for Lovebug...

This past Christmas {I know... I'm so behind} we were so excited to give our sweet girl some handmade gifts. I shared the first, her quilt- HERE.

The second gift was bought long before Christmas. I picked it up at Children's Orchard- my friend owns the store and called to tell me about the great find. I immediately picked it up, brought it home and put it in the basement for a little TLC later.

When Brian decided that he'd re-do it for Lovebug and give it to her for Christmas, I was thrilled! He's such a wonderful Daddy... completely in love with his little girl and would do anything for her.

The bed was in good condition. It just needed a little wood glue, some paint and personalization. He sanded, painted, distressed it, and added the monogram, using a stencil. He left the bottom bed plain, so we could add Baby Sissy's initial later.

While he worked on all that, I sewed up two pillow covers for the foam mattresses he bought. I used leftover material from her nursery bedding, and it's pictured here with a pillow I made for her rocking chair and her baby quilt that I made before she was born.

I was so pleased with how it turned out! Bri did a great job and our girl LOVES it! As soon as he brought it out, she quickly found her babies and put them in bed- blankets and all. Each night before bed, she tucks them in... precious.

Insta-Friday!

Another few weeks have flown by! This Mama is busy nesting and preparing for Easter! I'm very much over the white winter wonderland that is once AGAIN descending on our yard and ready for SPRING! Amen? Here's a little recap of our days...

Happy girls coloring at a playdate!

Enjoying a glimpse of Spring!

Blowing bubbles and collecting rocks in the sunshine!

Post Glucose-test date on the Plaza with my Love! It was
a gorgeous day too!

Her favorite thing to do... read. Especially with Dada,
especially her Princess Sophia book. LOVE it.

A much needed pause on a busy day. This Mama is

Insta-Friday!

Happy Friday y'all! Here's a peek into the last two weeks with the Edwards..

Mama's all bundled up... I have decided that I do not love cold weather
as much as I thought I did when we lived in Cali. But with Starbucks in hand
we headed to our playdate!

Happy girl in the ball pit.
So unsanitary... but neccesary sometimes. Amen?

So much snow! 1st time sledding with her Papa!
More pictures of that HERE.

We spent the day decorating the church for a Women's Conference...
it apparently wiped her out. Also- baby "Max" now goes everywhere
we go.

Saturday snuggles with her Daddy.
So blessed to relax a bit with these two.

Laughing at Daddy during dinner...
just what Mama needed after a rough few days.

Have a great weekend!

Our Snow Days {2013}

Being a stay-at-home Mama, the predicted snowfall here in Missouri had me a little nervous. I was worried I'd feel trapped at home, unable to go to our usual play-dates and errand-running, leaving me stir crazy. However, God's been working on this Mama's heart and teaching me, gently, how to REST.

I found it so very comforting to wake up to a snow covered world, and spent our days in our PJ's, cuddled up under quilts, watching Disney movies. Time seemed to slow down and it was just what I needed. I had time to nest a bit and get excited for Baby Sissy. I also baked a few too many goodies too.

Lucky for my girl, her Papa (my daddy) had a few Snow Days too... which meant she got to play in the snow! She was so excited. It took a while to get her all bundled up in her snow-bibs and such, but she sure did look cute!

When we got outside, she kept pointing to all the "no." She loved to look at it, but snow-balls and snow-men will have to wait another year... she refused to touch it.

She sure loves her Papa... it was precious watching him pull her in the sled down the driveway.

She lasted about 25 minutes before she was cold, and only wanted Papa to hold her... but these smiles and pictures were worth the chilly weather!

I love this girl and am so blessed to live these days with her.

Lovebug's New Quilt! {from Christmas}

So I've been sorting through a ridiculous 900+ photos that were clogging my iphone's storage this past few weeks, and have been coming across all of the projects I did before Christmas. I thought I'd get to sharing those bits of craftiness now that we're buried under a foot and a half of snow and are bunkered down at home for a while! There's only so much cleaning and baking a Mama can do right?

Back in October, Bri and I took our very first weekend trip together without Lovebug. It was a rainy fall weekend and we went to the beautiful Big Cedar Lodge in the Ozarks. Our room was amazingly cozy and it would have been the perfect trip, but unfourtunately I puked {in public} several times throughout the weekend and spent the rest of the time mostly in the big fluffly king-sized bed. We did manage to have some fun at Silver Dollar City the first day and I bought this adorable fabric all bundled together with a simple pattern at a cute little quilt shop.

I decided it would be a new cuddling quilt for my sweet girl and whipped it up a few weeks before Christmas so I could wrap it up under the tree for her. We only give her 3 gifts for Christmas and I want to always try to make one handmade. This year her Daddy re-did a beautiful doll bunk-bed for her too {post on that coming soon!} This was such a quick quilt! It doesn't need any batting, since it's a quilt-as-you-go, backed with super-soft fleece. I will say I'm not a huge fan of sewing each strip to the backing, since there were a few spots where my strips didn't get tacked down and I had to fix them after it was all 'done.' I only quilted once or twice per strip, and spent an evening hand sewing the binding. It's 45x 60inches finished, and it's even big enought for Mama to get under when we snuggle up in the morning.

My sweet girl caught an awful bug on Christmas Day and spent a week curled up under it, watching movies and sleeping on and off. I'm just glad she loves it so much, and it's had PLENTY of use this winter!

Finally... a few Bump Pics {Baby Sissy}

I'm definitely not on track with the weekly bump pics like I was with our sweet Lovebug... I suppose that happens with Babies #2 and on? Baby Sissy {our nickname for her} is keeping me on my toes!

16 Weeks!

This pregnancy started out so similarly. The nausea hit right as I found out at 5 weeks, and I even ate all the same things- saltines and lemon water, bland foods, and no coffee {gasp!} But then the sickness went on and on. My wonderful OB finally convinced me (and my insurance co) that it was Hypermesis and that I'd need a full script of Zofran {miracle drug.} Slowly, my appetite for normal foods has come back and I'm drinking my beloved Starbucks again {decaf} and craving chocolate like there's no tomorrow! I'm thinking this sweet girl may be a little more on the chunky side... And that's FINE with me!

19 Weeks!

My favorite thing about being pregnant with baby #2 has been imagining the sweet sister relationship she's gonna have! Lovebug has been taking her baby dolls EVERYWHERE lately! She's such a good little Mama and I can't wait to see the love she has for her Baby Sissy! When we ask her where Baby Sissy is, she points to my belly and gives it kisses! So precious.

I also wonder how my heart can grow anymore than it did when our girl came into the world. I know it will--but it amazes me how instead of having to share the love I already know how to give, God just creates more--such a beautiful picture of the love he has for us.

22 Weeks!

Time is flying by with this pregnancy. I'm working on updating the girls' room {LOVE saying that} and have picked out the pattern and fabric for Baby Sissy's quilt too. I'm so happy to have caught the nesting bug! So many beautiful things to buy from Etsy and to sew and create. I want to welcome my sweet little one into the same special handmade space that welcomed Lovebug.

I'm off to dream up more ideas!
