The gifts are wrapped, stockings are hung, and we are ready to see the excitement on our girls faces on Christmas morning! I'm so glad that I took the time this season to slow down, and really enjoy it. I've been much more consistent to think about the real meaning of all of this, since deciding to actively spend time in Advent with our girls. Miss Hannah and I have really been enjoying The Jesus Story Book Bible again, that post HERE. This year I'm following along with She Reads Truth, and it's been such a blessing. It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle & bustle of things, and taking time each evening to do a special activity as a family and read together has kept us grounded. This has truly been one of my favorite Christmas seasons to date--I'm so thankful for a restful season full of joy. I'm praying that you and yours are enjoying time together, and that you have a VERY Merry Christmas.
Well y'all, November was BUSY around here! My blogging became nonexistent, and JUST when I was doing so well with keeping up! Oh well--guess that just means we've been enjoying ourselves lately and have been too busy living life to write about it!

First up... I turned THIRTY. I think I felt a lot of different feelings on my birthday this year--thirty is how I pictured my own parents for so long, and it's how I pictured myself "all grown up" so I guess being here is just surreal. I will say that I feel blessed beyond what I ever thought I could be at thirty, and that made my day pretty special. It also helped that my sweet girls and Hubby sent me off to a mani/pedi, Starbucks, and some Mama time that afternoon! I got to eat Cheesecake Factory for dinner, and my sweet Mama picked me up a Natasha's Mulberry and Mott cake that was gorgeous! To top it all off, I finally got a Freshly Picked Carryall that I just LOVE!

After my birthday, it was time to head to WALT DISNEY WORLD! We spent 5 days in gorgeous Florida at the happiest place on earth! It was a trip we've had planned for a LONG time and it was even more wonderful that I thought it would be! Brian and I honeymooned at WDW 5 years ago, and this year we both turned 30, and my parents celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary, so it was the perfect celebration! I have SO MUCH to blog about Disney, but that will have to wait until January!
As soon as we got back, it was time for Miss Hannah's Thanksgiving Program at Preschool. It was just about the most adorable thing I've ever seen. Teeny tiny kiddos wearing turkey hats and singing about a Thanksgiving feast, and yelling "Gobble, Gobble, Gobble..." Too much y'all. Then they all sang about "The Savior of the world coming down--" we LOVE our school! Such an amazing thing to see the foundation being laid for a strong faith in God. I was such a proud Mama! She was well supported by both sets of Grandparents and Great-Gramma too.

This was my first year to host a big Thanksgiving dinner with my Mama's family. The girls we're so excited to play with their little cousins, and I was so thankful to have all our family together to celebrate and enjoy all the yummy food!

A quick family photo, at Brian's parents house (meal number one of the day!) The girls did really well with both meals... they are pretty flexible with nap times lately and so we can push it later, and they usually just fall asleep in the car and we transfer them to bed when we get home. They also tried quite a few new things to eat this year--including pickles, casseroles, and pie!

I am SUCH a sucker for a good pecan pie, and since I was hosting, you better believe we had dessert a plenty! I made a classic Libby's pumpkin pie, pecan pie, homemade whipped cream, and my Pumpkin Chocolate Chip bars too. The best part of the day is relaxing in bed after all the dishes are done, kiddos are in bed, with a big slice of pie and some Black Friday shopping online!
I still can't believe that December is here! This is the first year that I've got ALL the girls gifts and stocking stuffers done before Dec 1st! It's also the first year that I'm not scrambling to finish multiple handmade gifts, or trying to deal with nausea or a colicky baby... cheers to that! I'm going to slow down and enjoy this special season with my girls. We're doing Advent again much like last year--read that HERE. I love that Miss Hannah is really understanding the Bible stories now, and we're enjoying the activities too.

I've got lots of new items being released in January for The Shop, and lots of new blog posts then too. For now, I'll be drinking hot cocoa, bundling up my babes for a ride through Christmas in the Park, decking the halls, and preparing our hearts for the Newborn King!
Y'all, we are just in love with Freeland Photography. They do amazing work, and given the afternoon we had at the park with two todders running around us in circles--April performed nothing short of a miracle pulling off these shots! She captured exactly what our lives look like right now--a little crazy, but full of hilarity and our little ladies' very unique personalities. Thanks April!

Miss Hannah asked me the WEEK of Halloween last year and I too her that we'd have one the next year. Just like her Mama, she loves a good party!

The decorations were super-simple, tissue tassels and a sign made with black card stock and chalk. I had the large chalkboard from Liv's 1st Birthday party and used it as a photo-backdrop.

We had some ADORABLE costumes at this party! Hannah decided to be Anna (of course) and luckily, Liv is obsessed with Mickey & Minnie right now, and Hannah's costume from that age fit perfectly! My friend Shannon's kiddos were all rocking some awesome characters. I mean--the baby batman... he slays me.

I punched out a bunch of confetti from card stock and just used craft paper as my table runners. I collected most of the straws, paper-goods, twine, and washi-tape from the Target Dollar Bins--love that place. I knew that the Mama's would need a snack too, so I whipped up some of Pioneer Woman's perfect iced coffee, and made some chocolate chip pumpkin bars too! That recipe is HERE.

I'm seriously loving the purple minion. Hannah calls them the "Naughty Minions," ha. Like I said, we kept things SUPER simple. The games were kept easy for the kiddos, who were mostly ages 1-4, which made them easy to put together for the Mamas too! They threw bean bags to knock down the tower of cups for candy.

My sweet friend Sheena made the Pumpkin play dough, which the kiddos had so much fun playing with! They just used Halloween cookie cutters & rolling pins, and it kept them busy--which was important with so many little ones running around.

We also made Halloween masks. I just found some cute printables online and then let them color and add stickers. The twine tied the masks around their little heads.

The Pumpkin beanbag toss games came as a 2 pack from Target. They are super sturdy and I'll definitely use them again. I'm so glad it wasn't too cold for the kids to be outside because they were running around my yard by the end!

What I REALLY wanted to serve at the party was donuts--of course, and sugar cookies and all things sugary. Thank The Lord my dear friends had an intervention and said we should probably avoid things that are too sugary so that they kiddos weren't wired for the rest of the day. Good call ladies. Instead, we served baby carrots with Ranch, Cuties--with jack-o-lantern faces and tiny water bottles. We also had a few sweets--candy corn, carmel apple slices, and the Rice-Krispy treats. Hannah and I made them the night before the party, and she sampled quite a bit of the treats before we dipped the rest! She loved decorating them with Halloween sprinkles--such a good little kitchen helper.

I knew there would be quite a few Frozen characters at the party--aren't they just so stinkin' cute?! I loved that all day long Miss Hannah kept tells us all day; "I'm not Hannah, I'm ANNA." Our little firefighter and cow were just adorable.

Sheena also came up with a great craft for the kiddos, complete with fine-motor skills! They used cotton-balls and clothespins to dot paint that coordinated with a letter onto their candy corn drawing. I'm so thankful for friends who are blessed with the gift of education!

Who can resist kiddos in costumes? It was such a fun morning and the perfect way to keep littles busy and wear them out for naps before Trick-or-Treating!

Sometimes things just come to a screeching halt. I had just come out of the fog of Motherhood, and I was SO enjoying doing-all-the-things, and feeling a bit like myself again, creating, and excited to enjoy my favorite season and all that comes with it. Then... THE SICKNESS. It was almost a week ago that Bri and I got so. very. sick. to our stomachs. I was having some sort of post traumatic flashbacks to my days of Hypermesis with Liv... all day puking and never-ending nausea. It's only today that I'm feeling a bit more like myself... back among the living. I was starting to feel really disappointed that the Fall days were passing by without me. It was so discouraging.

I'm REALLY enjoying this link-up that Ashley and Jess began--it has truly given me a day of the week to stop, and reflect on all the little moments in my week that I am so GRATEFUL for. Even in the chaos of motherhood, these days are a gift. I'm thankful for this little space that I can record our memoes. I think it's easy to feel bogged down by the day-to-day stuff--toddler melt-downs in Target, breaking up endless arguments over Princess toys, and feeling like there's just so much to get done (and never enough time to do it all.) Even in the chaos of motherhood, these days are a gift. I'm thankful for this little space that I can record our memories, and remind myself of that.
This week, I'm enjoying long walks in the evening with my girls--the cool Fall weather and all the gorgeous colors make this Mama so very happy. We stopped at a Little Free Library in our neighborhood, and picked out some Halloween books to read. My girls have been so excited for Halloween-well Hannah at least! Liv just tells me "Mou!" when I ask her what she'll be. We have quite a little collection of Halloween books and they bring them to me all day long to read. On our way home, we stopped to jump in a giant pile of gorgeous leaves that were just calling our name! Liv was so sad to leave. They each picked out a pretty leave--orange and yellow to take home--such sweet moments.

We're enjoying BASEBALL! I'm not sure if y'all have heard, but it is BLUE OCTOBER here in Kansas City. The Royals are in the World Series, and there has been a LOT of baseball on our TV! We've been keeping the girls busy coloring, playing with stickers, princess little people, and reading lots of books while the games are on. Miss Hannah yells, "Go Royals!" when all the grown-ups get excited and yell--so cute. We're so excited for the final game tonight! Go Royals! Take the Crown!

We're also enjoying new and old Fall traditions. I got to spend last Thursday with Miss Hannah at her Preschool's Pumpkin Day! I definitely got stuck in the "Pumpkin guts" center, which was a little interesting given how I felt, but it was so sweet to see her interacting with her little friends! We iced pumpkin cookies, did pumpkin volcanos, pumpkin play dough and a bunch of other adorable ideas.

Last night, we broke out the girls' new Mickey Mouse carving set, and carved up our big pumpkin into a Mickey-faced Jack-o-Lantern. Hannah was so excited and a little too interested, ha. She wanted to scrape, stab, and carve the thing herself! We kept the girls busy painting, while Brian and I cleaned it out, and began outlining the design. Liv was so stinkin' cute painting her tiny white pumpkin. She was very meticulous about what color she wanted and where the paint went.

We're getting very excited for all that this week holds for us! We're enjoying big bowls of Fall comfort food--soup, and I'm getting ready to bake pumpkin bread too! I'm busy planning the girls' Halloween party that will keep us busy on Friday morning. I also can NOT wait to see the girls in their costumes! Follow along over on Instagram if you want to see all the cuteness sooner. Have a great Halloween week y'all!
We sat down at Starbucks and looked at patterns, and fabric and color combinations. I just love what she picked out. We went with the same pattern that I used for Liv's quilt HERE, and then we used gorgeous designer fabric from Spoonflower in Foxen Mint, Gold Polka Dots, and Arrows--Gray.
I just LOVED sewing for these sweet boys and I really like what Carrie did with the DIY chalkboard and the large metal letters above the cribs! Tate and Owen are so lucky to be born into such a sweet family! Of course I can't leave you without a picture of the babes--who can resist the cuteness overload of TWINS??

It's been a really long-time dream of mine to have this little shop... a place where I can sell handmade things, and have some sort of creative outlet. I've always been an artist of some sort. At different points in my life, I poured my creative energy into different types of art. I poured myself into my painting in high school and college. I poured myself into my home when I was a newly wed. I would spend my free time envisioning how to make our tiny Southern Californian apartments cozy and inviting. When we moved back to Missouri, I poured myself into handmade bedding and nursery decor for Hannah. Then we moved into this house and I began throwing the kind of parties I'd always wanted to throw, and I was crafting all the time--for showers and birthdays, and sewing again and creating. There was a time when Liv was tiny that I did not feel so creative, and now that we're in such a good place again, I've got such a desire to turn my visions into reality.

I think with all small handmade shops, your vision sort of changes and gets refined as you figure it all out. I've read countless articles on how to grow your business, and how to start small, using what you have, and then go from there. I've emailed successful shops and researched the best way to sell your goods, and it all boils down to what Elizabeth Ivie of Ivie Baby said in response to my questions; "If you build it, they will come."

So I'm going to "build." I'm going to create the things that I enjoy making, and selling, and we'll see if the buyers come! Candace's Calling is going to become baby quilts, heirloom garlands and buntings. I've poured my profits so far back into the shop--lovely fabrics and materials! Some moments, I'm so excited I almost want to squeal, and others, I'm so nervous to really pour myself into something!

Thank you to whoever is following along on my little handmade journey. I'd like to offer you all a discount as I try to clear out my previous inventory to make room for new items! Use code FREESHIP5 on anything over $5.00 to receive free shipping.

Have a lovely Fall weekend!

These littles just CRACK ME UP lately! I can not believe some of the things they say. Miss Hannah obviously talks a lot more than Liv does, but when they're together it's even better. Today they were watching Octonauts on TV I asked Hannah what the fish was called and she said a Lion Fish. Then Liv started yelling "RAWRRR!"

When we picked Hannah up from preschool last week, aside from the usual squealing of "Mommy!" as she gleefully runs to the car, I asked her what she had for snack. "Pineapple." "Did you eat it?!" "No, (really dramatic pause) I DEVOURED it!" "Oh good! Did you like it?" "No." We'll never really know if she even tasted the pineapple.

"Hannah who do you play with at school?" "My friend boy Carson!" Who she talks about ALL THE TIME. We're in trouble. Also there are five boys in her class and only two girls. She never talks about the other girl. TROUBLE.

Liv has SUCH an expressive personality. She'll yell "NO!" even when she actually means yes, just to get a rise out of Brian and I. Most of the time when I ask her to do something, she'll say no, and just when I give her the look that means I mean business, she'll smile coyly and then come do what I asked. Her favorite things to say right now are, "go go!" which is usually her interesting version of "Let it go, " or she'll be singing "yock, yock, yock" while she rocks her babies. She also says, bubbles, "mou" for Minnie Mouse, "buuk" for book, "blay" for blanky, "nack" for snack, and a host of other Livisms. She's talking more and more everyday--which means we're at that phase where she'll have a whole conversation and I have NO idea what she's saying so I just smile and say "Is that so?" Please tell me I'm not alone in that Mamas?

Sometimes, Brian and I just look at each other and laugh after Hannah says something. Last Sunday morning, she told us that her baby Elmo was "very expressive about going to church." She didn't elaborate before walking away. That same Sunday, she threw up at lunch (IN PUBLIC) and after praying at dinner, she told Brian; "You forgot to pray about me barfing at First Watch! (the lunch place)" Later that evening, I was diffusing Essential Oils--to ward off whatever germs may have entered our home, and when she noticed I'd moved the diffuser upstairs, she said; "Oh no! Where's the blower so I don't barf like Sissy?!"

They just say the darnedest things don't they?
I'm sure it is for a lot of people. I mean, pumpkin spice everything, along with the cooler weather, bonfires, the leaves turning gorgeous colors... it's pretty much perfect. I got very excited to head to the pumpkin patch this year, especially since Liv is at such a fun age and I thought that it would be a fun family outing. We decided to drive a bit to the Louisburg Cider Mill, which, along with all their apple goodness, also boasts lots of fun activities for kids, hay rides, and a large pumpkin patch too.

I'm so incredibly thankful for baby-wearing--it was SO MUDDY from all the rain and the pumpkin patch was definitely a less than ideal situation. The stroller probably would have been stuck in the mud (like our van was before some nice people pushed us out.) I wore Liv and Brian ended up carrying Miss Hannah for most of the time. I will say, that grabbing a wheel barrow and actually making a plan, just might have helped a bit. We ended up wandering around in the mud and then deciding to just grab one of the beautiful pumpkins that they had gathered near the cider mill instead.

In case you needed a laugh. This picture describes my children to the TEE. Hannah was yelling at Liv because she wouldn't hold her hand. She's such a little stinker.

The hot apple donuts and cider were seriously amazing. We finished off half a dozen in about five minutes... I'm pretty sure Liv ate three. I had a sparkling cider that was so good, and Hannah got a kids apple sipper in a cute little apple shaped cup with a twirly straw. We sat and enjoyed the gorgeous Fall weather and the girls played on the hay bales. They had viewing areas in the barns where the girls could see them making the cider. It smelled heavenly.
It ended up being such a fun outing. I was a little nervous when we were wandering around in the mud about a mile from food/restrooms, but making family memories like these are one of the many reasons I wanted to be a Mama in the first place. These little cuties were asleep about five minutes after we started the drive home... definitely a sign of a fun family outing.

Sometimes when I watch Hannah play or talk to her sister, I feel like she is in her own little world. She's ALWAYS some sort of character and usually it's a very dramatic situation, like when she announced while in public, that her Bitty Baby, "Grace," had a blow-out and she started yelling; "There's poop everywhere! Oh Poor Grace! She's so messy!" I tried to quiet her down, but in Hannah's world, we HAD to change her baby's diaper immediately, because--the blow out Mom! Ugh.

Earlier in the Summer, we were on our way to Chick-fil-a to see Elsa and Anna during Frozen night, and she decided that her imaginary dog, "Fairy" needed to join us. When we arrived, I got both girls out of their carseats and we started walking across the parking lot, when she started screaming; "My dog! My dog! Mommy you left my dog! You left Fairy in the car Mom!" I'm sure all the people that were in a line wrapped around the building waiting to meet the princesses, were all thinking what a terrible person I was to leave my poor child's dog in the hot car to suffocate while we ate dinner. Awesome.

Miss Olivia is a whole different sort of child. Sometimes when Hannah is being dramatic and pretending that Liv is her dog/friend/baby or whatever else she's been assigned, I can SEE the annoyance on her face, and she'll just get up and walk away from Hannah. This usually ends with Hannah yelling "No Sissy! Come back! You're supposed to be doing ____ !"

Liv would much rather yell with excitement out the window at her pet Squirrel that lives in the tree in our backyard. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. at lunchtime, she practically jumps out of her highchair, yelling; "Quirrel! Quirrel! Thereitis!" Then she hangs her head in sadness when Hannah tells her that it went home to eat it's acorns for lunch. It's pretty hilarious actually.

The rest of the time, Liv is quietly caring for her babies, or stirring something at their play kitchen. She'll take all her cheerios from her snack cup and pour them back and forth into different dishes and cups. She seems to be much more content to playing quietly by herself. The only time she gets herself into trouble is when she steals Hannah's baby Grace, or her purse and runs off through the house with them in the play stroller.

When they play together best, it's usually because EVERY SINGLE Little People toy is out all over their bedroom and they have lost themselves in the world of Snow white/Ariel/Noah's Ark. Sometimes they pull all the blankets, pillows and stuffed animals off their beds and decide to hide under the covers pretending to "sleep" which they think is hilarious. If only they would actually put themselves to bed that easily at night.

It's so nice that they are finally at an age where I can leave them to play in their room together and go try to get a few things done. I'm loving this stage and feeling like we are at such a good place right now with these little ladies!
My little chefs cooking for me while I recovered. I spared you the picture of the eye patch.

You know those days where every little thing... even the little stupid things, are just NOT going right? The last 48 hours has been a bit insane.
I was gone most of the weekend celebrating a friend who is about to get married... dinner, bridal showers and staying in a cabin by the lake. To say I was tired by the time I got home on Sunday was a MAJOR understatement. I just wanted to collapse into bed.

Unfortunately, while I was contemplating a long hot shower, and watching the Royals game, Liv wanted to play row-row your boat and some how scratched me in the eye with her tiny fingernail.
Oh. My. Lawd. Y'all it was painful! One of our good friends is actually an eye surgeon and so we drive to his house (after calling my Mama to come stay with the girls.) He put some ointment on it and patched it, but said we'd have to wait till morning to see how it does. Luckily it was much better in the morning, but I still felt like I had an eyelash permanently stuck in there-yuck.

I then had about a million errands to run, posts to write, orders to ship for the shop, etc... And all I've wanted to do is sleep. My dear Mama came to help a bit, and just when I was feeling ready to tackle some stuff, I realized we had nothing but pancakes to eat for dinner, and then Hannah fell and hit her head in the coffee table, causing a big ol' goose egg and lots of blood. After finally getting the kiddos to bed, cranking out some sewing and making a monster to-do list for today, I crashed hard. I woke up, pulled Hannah's hair into a pony-tail and prayed that you couldn't see the crusty blood spot... AWESOME parenting right there.

I was determined to have a MUCH better day today, but when Liv's diaper (#2) leaked all over my couch first thing in the morning, I knew we were off to a bad start. We headed to Trader Joes, and of course I missed my exit and started panicking that I wouldn't make it to pick up Hannah from Preschool on time. After making it (by the minute) to pick her up, we headed home to unload the car.
The girls were pulling everything out of the grocery bags, "helping" and I usually don't mind. Today, through, it ended up looking like a tornado swept through my kitchen! I spent a half hour looking for a bag of carrots and a box of cereal, only to later discover that my sweet 3yr old had put them in the sink full of soapy water. She said there was no more room left on the counter. Of course there wasn't.

So now, ladies and gentlemen, excuse me while I go ship off three orders, throw some dinner in the crock pot, and then drink a BIG OL' LATTE to get me to bedtime tonight... Amen?
I don't know about you all, but this was a crazy busy week! We had so much going on that I may actually go to bed when my kiddos do tonight! (Probably not, because-- Hello, grown-up television and ice cream calling my name!) Anyway, in addition to normal business; Bible Study, Dentist Appt, Trip to Trader Joes, Preschool, the Zoo, etc., WE BOUGHT A CAR!
This Mama is officially rocking a Mini-van, and let me tell you that I am not hanging my head in shame... it is SWEET! The storage and roomy-ness alone is awesome, but the remote control power doors... definitely sealed the deal. Let's hope that Liv loves it as much as I do, and ends her 30+min long screaming from the back seat. Amen?

My girls. It's funny how just saying that phrase lately leads me to a teary eyed sentimental feeling. I never pictured myself with girls. I'm not sure why, but when we were first pregnant with Hannah, I wanted a boy. I told myself that one of ME was more than enough for one household, ha. That feeling immediately melted away when I saw my sweet baby girl on that monitor, and now, I can't picture my life without these little ladies. They are at the most wonderful stage right now--their love for each other is such a gift from God. Sure I spend my days breaking up little arguments over toys and hair-pulling, but when they snuggle up or give each other hugs and kisses... it's pure gold.

Miss Hannah is still as sweet as ever-always wearing her feelings on her shoulder. She makes friends easily, and is just as polite and dainty as she has been her whole three years. She has an amazing memory and walks around quoting books and her favorite Disney movies all day long. We are always given a character to play in her little world, and we think someday she will be an actress or dancer. She's crazy smart, and I hear her reciting her bible verses from school from the backseat as we drive home. She can break my heart with her tears, and her sweet spirit reminds me to be gentle with the little souls I've been entrusted.

As much as my sweet girls surely look like sisters, they are as different as night and day. My Liv is has such a strong personality for someone who is only sixteen months old. She can be the sweetest, most loving baby, giving her 'Nana' a hug, and then push Hannah down three seconds later. She's got a will that won't be broken, and she knows exactly what she wants, when she wants it. I think that someday I will be so glad for her passion and her will, but as a toddler Mama, I am frequently brought to frustration when simple tasks become so difficult. I think that she is teaching me patience, and grace and that God gave her to me in order that I could grow and stretch and be humbled.

I love to watch Liv beam with joy when she sees that Hannah's outfit matches hers, or that her sister wants her to play with her and hold her hand. Hannah will say "Come on Sissy, we are going outside. Get your shoes," and Liv will run to the basket to try to put her shoes on, afraid she'll miss out on something great. My littlest love isn't quite sure what to do with herself with Hannah is at school. She gets very excited when it's time to pick her up. These girls say good night to each other with kisses and hugs and awake upset when one is not in her bed. I can see them years from now, sneaking in to sleep with each other when they finally get their own rooms. I am filing these happy thoughts away in the hopes that on the days when I feel worn out or when I have to break up another tug-of-war over a certain doll--I'll remember what a gift these sisters are.
The lovely Miss Courtney invited me to show you around as a part of a tour through blogland. HERE's her super cute home here in Missouri.

We've lived here for 2 years in May, and we're slowly working through the house, painting and making it just-right. I'm pretty picky when it comes to decor and we like to do a lot of DIY projects as we go. We're currently re-doing our basement playroom/family room, and I'm really excited to show you all that, when it finally comes together. We also just got an IKEA here in Kansas City, so we'll finally be updating our living room, and other areas I've been waiting to finish.

HERE is an old sneak peek into our living room, kitchen, breakfast nook, and the old nursery.
HERE is our dining room--including the farmhouse table my Hubby built.

I decided to show you my favorite room in our house today, our master bedroom. When we moved in, I really wanted to make our bedroom a priority. I wanted a room where I could relax, and retreat to at the end of the day. Unfourtunately, this room had ugly green roman shades, and a pickled-oak built in corner cabinet--yuck. My amazing Hubby ripped out the cabinet, only to reveal NO DRYWALL behind it. So he just bought some and put it up--LOVE that man. We painted the walls Blue Arrow by Valspar. It's such a calming shade of blue-grey.

We replaced the awful shades with white wood blinds from Home Depot, and the iron hardware, clips, and sheer curtains are all Pottery Barn. I have a love/hate relationship with Pottery Barn. I love that they sell exactly what I'm usually looking for, but I hate their prices. Anyway, the sheers let lots of amazing light into the room, but the blinds block it out when Mama needs to sneak off for a Sunday nap!

The iron bed, lamps, duvet cover and pillow shams are also from Pottery Barn. The nightstand on the left is an antique my Gramma bought and was my little sister's growing up. I wanted something similar not the other side, but not matching. I also wanted some storage of some kind, since we don't have a dresser. So Brian built me one. Like I said--LOVE that man.

This rocking chair sits in the corner to the right, and was in the nursery before we put up Hannah's toddler bed and Liv came along. I have sat in this chair and rocking and nursing my babies for hours and hours and hours in this chair. It is incredibly comfortable and has a matching ottoman too. We chose white because I could strip off the slipcover and bleach it when needed--that was a GENIUS move. Did y'all know that babies like to spit up? Well they do and this chair has held up wonderfully. Oh--it's from Pottery Barn Baby--shocking I know. The adorable pillow is from For the Love of Joy.

Here's a close up of the book shelf Brian built me. It's currently holds my macbook, cookbooks and baby books. I bought the box and basket from Target to hold chargers, cords, etc. Anyone want to come style my shelves? I haven't quite figured out how to make them look pretty enough for all the hard work my hubby did, but gosh I love the paneling on the back! The magnetic frame on top is vintage Lisa Leonard.

To the left is the door to the master bath. Someday, when I get the walls painted and the silver/gold combination hardware out of there, I'll show you that too. It has amazing natural light, a big jacuzzi tub and a stone stand alone shower. Heaven is what that bathroom feels like after my girls are in bed at night.

I had the idea to do a chalkboard print wall for a long time, and slowly gathered these prints from all over the handmade world. Top to bottom they are Katy Girl Designs, Lindsay Letters, Recipe for Crazy, Rooted in Paper, Frenchpress mornings. The frames are all from Hobby Lobby and were 40% off--yay! This wall is full of truth and it encourages me every time I walk by.

I love that this room has a vaulted ceiling, and a fan with 2 dimmer lights. Unfortunately, sometimes the light/fan becomes possessed and comes on by itself in the middle of the night--scared me to DEATH the first couple times I woke up to the fan on high and both lights on at 3am, but now we just laugh about it. I forgot to tell my parents when they stayed with my girls and slept in there--and maybe I had a good laugh at their expense too.

I hope you enjoyed the little tour! I hope you'll follow along as I post more rooms in the near future. Have a great day!
Last month, we took our annual trip down to Lake Pomme de Terre with my family. You can read about last years trip HERE. Since Hannah was a little (a LOT) apprehensive about the lake last year, and Liv was too little and stayed at the house with my Mama, I was so excited to see how my girls would do out on the boat. I LOVED the water as a kiddo, and I want my girls to enjoy it too.

We eased them into the weekend by having them wear lifejackets around the house, which went over well. Then, it came time to get out on the boat. After Hannah's first response of telling my uncle to drive "SLOW!", they were just fine! Liv needed to stay close to Mama, but that's always the case. She mostly got mad when we wouldn't let her walk around on the boat while we were moving. She watched us all ski and take turns on the tube--content as long as someone held her, or gave her a snack to munch on.

Then I was beaming with Mama pride as I watched Hannah ride on the "Taco" (tube) with her Daddy! I was so incredibly proud of my brave girl. We worked all summer on being brave and trying new things, and to see her step out of her comfort zone was amazing. When we got in the water to cool off (a crazy hot Missouri weekend, that water never felt so good!), she even worked on her swimming with Daddy and Papa! She'll be a little fish before we know it. My big girl is growing up so fast, and I think I love her even more each day.

Hannah also provided lots of comic relief throughout the weekend, when she referred to my sister's boyfriend as "MY Ryan" and said things like "All aboard, everybody on the ship!" and "Captain Uncle Kirk will vroom us in the boat!". I think she may be watching too much Jake and the Neverland Pirates, ha.

The lake seriously makes me feel 20 years younger. (The fact that I can remember how I felt 20 years ago is a little scary.) I watch Bri try crazy tricks, crash hard and do it again--the lake keeps you young. There's nothing like being out on the water--it's so calming for me, and I feel so much joy. My sister and I never laugh as hard as we do when we're on the tube together. I pray my girls still love to play together 20 years from now.

Until then, we'll continue to make great memories. Eight adults and two small kiddos are a LOT for one house (and two bathrooms!). Hannah keeps my sister up late, chatting away, and Brian and I get a little bedmate that thrashes around in her sleep. But the fun is so worth it. The girls loved exploring a new place, watching movies together, and having dance parties. We are so grateful for weekends full of sunshine, babes covered in sunscreen, slow evenings, and family. Such a great way to end the summer.
I'm not sure what it is about Fall, but it makes me want to do a WHOLE lot of shopping--usually with a Pumpkin Spice Latte in hand. These days, I do most of our shopping online. It's a lot more convenient with two small kiddos! I thought I'd share what we are loving right now.

It's no secret that we love Sadie Sky Boutique! The girls have quite a collection of her adorable bows and headbands and Jess is just the sweetest person too! Of course, I couldn't be more in love with THESE Moccs from Freshly Picked--can you tell I'm loving the orchid lately?

It wouldn't be Fall without the scent of baked goods, am I right? I've been eyeing THESE all natural soy candles from Candelles--yum!

We are also getting pretty excited about Halloween over here, and THESE Jammies from Carters are just the CUTEST! I am loving the new colors for Fall this year--orchid, mustard, navy and turquoise. I also love the geometric prints that are everywhere as well.

I've also got some glittery fall garlands that will work wonderfully for Thanksgiving get-togethers or add some sparkle to your Fall decor!

I really love all the arrows/chevrons that are all over right now, and had fun making these hand-sewn felt garlands.

Most importantly, now that The Party Shop has been up and running, I'd LOVE your feedback! What would you like to see more of in the shop? Bunting and Garlands are my true love, but I want to help you all throw a GREAT party, and I want to know what you'd love available.

I'm SUPER excited to show you what I've been cooking up next! EEEK (super excited) so stay tuned for that!

It's iced coffee o'clock in the Edwards house, and this Mama is feeling bone tired--not from anything out of the ordinary. I've had three days of normal 'Stay At Home Mama' work. Sending Miss Hannah off to Preschool early in the morning, grocery shopping with Liv, toddler melt-downs, cleaning, planning a Disney trip, running to the Mall with friends and an epic toddler meltdown in the middle of a store, get the girls down for naps, etc. You know that stuff.

This is the point in my day where I usually grab a big glass of iced coffee and head to my craft room to sew for The Party Shop or work on any projects around the house, check my to-do list, send emails, do laundry, work on digital photo books, etc. Today I am just TIRED. I find myself wondering, is it OKAY to rest? Why when I think about putting my feet up and reading a book do I feel guilty for not keeping busy or being PRODUCTIVE?

Resting has not been a part of my day as a Mom. Every single second needed to be used up DOING something. Even in the evenings when the kiddos go to bed--Bri and I want to watch a movie together, I'm constantly pinning projects to do later, reading blogs for ideas, recipes, working on finishing our playroom, redecorating other rooms, DIY projects, new ideas for the shop, materials, sending emails, planning activities, making shopping lists... it goes on and on and ON.

Now, all these things can be GOOD things. I ENJOY being a creative person that needs to funnel that energy somewhere. But being a Mom is a FULL time job. I needed to remind myself today that it is MORE than enough to get through the day and I hope that if you needed to hear that today, this will encourage you.

Sometimes resting is enough.

***If you need a source for daily encouragement, head over to THRIVE MOMS! I can not tell you the number of times that a post there has encouraged, and left me feeling refreshed. Also- I'm really enjoying the SHE READS TRUTH app! It's a wonderful way to read a quick bible study (even on your iphone while you're pinned by a sleeping babe!) and it always leaves me feeling glad that I took the time to read!

It feels like forever ago--back when I used to keep the blog updated a bit more than just Liv's weekly photos and birthday parties. I feel like as soon as Miss Olivia turned ONE, I came out of a year-long fog of sorts. Suddenly, I had more energy to do more than just survive the days, and get the basics accomplished. It's probably a combination of sleep + a toddler who can now play with her older sister + just FINALLY getting the hang of things.

I knew before a lot of blogging could happen, I needed to catch up on our memory books. So here's an updated post on what I do to keep up with photos, memories and giving my girls a little piece of their story to keep.

I decided to essentially keep up with THREE ways to keep our memories/photos organized.

ONE: Each kiddo gets a BIG First Year album. I made these with Shutterfly, and since they are HUGE, 90pages+, I bought them when there was a 30% off sale on top of a 40% off coupon code, with a $10off coupon and free shipping too! They are 12x12 hardback. Looking back, I'm not sure why I didn't go with 10x10, but now my Grandma can easily read them.

I really like the Storybook themes on Shutterfly--very easy to use the same theme/elements (washi tape, Polaroid frames, etc) throughout and there are several cute layout ideas that help get me started. I worked on these after the girls were in bed, and let's face it, I don't sleep anyways.

TWO: Our Family Yearbook--I put all of our Instagram pictures (the daily snippets of our days) in an 8x12 hardback book, also made with Shutterfly.

I don't do much "scrapbooking" with these, which means it only takes me a couple days to put them together at the end of each year. I just use the same 4 or 5 layouts that use square photos and fill them in. I did decide to add the Instagram captions so we could tell what was going on at that time.

THREE: Memory Journals--hardback moleskine journals where we record all the memories. I usually date each entry and write down a funny thing the girls said that day, or a new skill they acquired. I keep a running list of things I want to record on my iPhone, and then spend an hour once every few months to write them all down. I'll give these to my girls when they move out--so they have all the little moments that made our lives so full of joy!

The other books I've made are quick coffee table books with each of the girls' weekly photo projects. I used Shutterfly for Hannah's, but tried Picaboo for Olivia's and was equally happy--and spent a LOT less! These are canvas covered 9x11's with a photo insert, and just have all the photos in large formats. I also made each of the girls a small book with all of the professional photos from their 1st birthday parties. Someday I'd like to catch up on all the hundreds of photos in my iPhoto that happened after their first year, before the next sibling--but that's what I'll do after their all grown up and I have a LOT more time--right?

Her first day of preschool. My first baby. My girl who has no hesitations anytime we drop her off anywhere--not so much as a hug or kiss. Just; "Bye Mom!" Like she's ten or something. She's so ready for this little adventure. She knows all of what she needs to know for Kindergarten, and at only 3, can write her name, and spell her sister's. She's ready for a challenge--but at the same time, this Mama feels the pain of letting go a bit.

It's no more than 6 hrs a week- 2 half days, and she's home for lunch and naps--something we're definitely not ready to give up yet! Still... The self imposed Mama-guilt of not homeschooling my social butterfly, or for even letting her out of my sight for a few hours (since she's only 3) has been brutal this week. Silly probably, but real. I know deep down that this is so good for her--right now, in this moment, this works for our family. She'll learn all sorts of things and make new friends, all while being in a place where the Gospel is spoken. These are all things I very much want for my girl.

She's been carrying her backpack around for days and asking when she's going to school. While we painted her nails last night, she told me that she is a big girl now and that she will go to school sometimes. "Not all the time Mama, just sometimes." I asked her if she was excited and she told me, "Yes- my teacher is nice and I really liked her shirt."

Why does it feel like my heart may explode? Maybe it's because it still feels like yesterday that we brought our tiny 5 lb baby home from the hospital, and now she's growing up. Excuse me while I go rock Liv and sob. But really... I'm so very proud of my girl.
I'm finally getting around to blogging my sweet little THREE year old's birthday party! Hannah has grown up so much this summer, and this Mama is equal parts beaming with pride, and crying ugly tears because she acts SO big! This girl is spunky, hilarious, creative, equal parts obsessed with Disney Princesses, and Cars & Planes! She is sweet as can be, and we just love her to pieces! She's old enough now to get a say in what kind of party she wants and well--a girl after my own heart--she chose DONUTS! It didn't take much to convince me and I thought it was a pretty cute idea too. I found a ton of really cute/cheap ideas and threw together this little party in the park only a few weeks after Liv's 1st Birthday Party. I grabbed most of the supplies, including the adorable Oh Joy cups at Target, and our favorite donut shop, Lamars, took care of the food! I made a big batch of iced coffee and we were set! All the sources/links are listed at the bottom of the post.

It was such a fun morning celebrating our sweet girl with friends and family! I took only a handful of pictures, mostly because we were too busy eating yummy donuts, drinking iced coffee, and catching up with dear friends, but also because it was an OUTDOOR party in July and, well, we were all a little sweaty! I did happen to capture a few cute little toddler moments... PRECIOUS!

I've FINALLY done it ya'll. I have been wanting to start an Etsy shop for a long time now. I feel like I'm a much better Wife/Mama/Friend when I have some sort of creative outlet--and now that my girls are a little older, it was TIME! I absolutely LOVE throwing a good party, and have shared several here on the blog. Well, now you can buy some of my decor--and right now, at a DISCOUNT! Several of the items up right now have been used once at a party or event I've hosted and are listed at discounted prices! I want to get a feel for what you all are looking for, so PLEASE send me your feedback either in a comment here, or an ETSY convo, letting me know what you want to see MORE of! I'm so excited to finally share with you my MOST favorite party yet! My sweet Olivia turned ONE on June 4th, and we threw her a glittery, girly party full of all kinds of sweet treats, here at our home. It was such a great time with friends and family celebrating our littlest love. All sources are listed at the bottom of the post!

Oh my goodness how time has flown! I can't believe this is the LAST of the picture project posts! I have been enjoying my sweet Liv more and more everyday and I feel like all the fun with her is just getting started! At 49 weeks she really picked up the speed while walking! She was suddenly ready to be on-the-go at all times! She LOVES "baby Max" the doll that Hannah carried around for a good year. Olivia has to be mothering some sort of doll or stuffed friend at all times. She kisses them and pats them and it is SO STINKIN' PRECIOUS! She also loves Little People and is constantly playing the music on all the little houses we have. She'll push the button and then shake her little booty and dance... kills me! She doesn't have much interest in TV when Hannah is watching something... that is except when Mickey is on! She points and wants to know all the characters' names and watches intently. Good thing we're heading to Disney this fall!

At 50 weeks, we headed to Mansfield to visit dear friends for a long weekend. Poor girl puked in the car as we pulled into the driveway after the 3 1/2 hour drive down. Then BOTH girls were sick, pukey, and grumpy for most of the weekend. We left early and got home in time for Mama to catch it too... bummer. Liv was still super cute with her bud Vivi though. They are 4mo apart and spent their time stealing each others' dolls and all the attention too! This week our sweet girl got her top two teeth for a total of 4 now, and has began holding her hands up for you to hold her ALL THE TIME. I really don't mind-especially since my baby is growing up too fast!

At 51 weeks, poor Liv had the sickies still... which usually means lots of extra cuddles! If she has Mama, binky and blanket, she's usually pretty content. She started doing better in the car when Mama passes her snacks-her favorite are veggie straws. She's trying lots of new foods lately! She wants whatever Hannah has, and can usually eat more than her sister too-ha! She's not very interested in fresh fruit, which is bizarre to us, considering Hannah would eat pints of it at a time. She's into popcorn, Mama's scones, spaghetti, and NURSING. I didn't think her little two-toothed smile could get any cuter, but now that her top teeth are in... oh goodness it's cute! She usually goes from making a sassy, grumpy face to a big cheesy grin in a split-second- SUCH personality!

The last week of her first year... so bitter sweet. She had such a good week, was super happy and walking all over the house laughing at everything. She points to everything and wants to know what it is called or hold/touch it. She does several hand gestures for "all done," "open," "ni-night," "bye-bye," etc. She loves to steal whatever I'm eating--especially anything sweet! She may have inherited my sweet tooth :) She uses some new words... Papa, Gramma, "bup" (up), and tries to say "that," "please," and "dance." My FAVORITE thing our Livi does is repeat animal sounds. She'll tell you what the Doggie, Kitty-cat, and Elephant say... in THAT order, and she spits all over when she does the elephant. It's precious! We are so in love with this sweet girl. I still don't know where a whole year went, but I'm so excited for this next one. This is my FAVORITE age, and I'm enjoying everyday with our second little blessing.
