This is a recipe that I make when I’m missing Missouri… it’s what my Mama made every Sunday in the fall and winter and we’d eat it while watching our Kansas City Chiefs play some football! I’ve tried several Chili recipes, and this one’s just about perfect… at least I think so! Here’s what you’ll need…
See that packet up there? That’s Williams Original Chili Seasoning… and without it, it’s just won’t taste the same. Marmie (my nickname for her) shipped me about 20 packets of that wonderful stuff just so I could make some chili!
Marmie’s Sunday Chili
28oz crushed tomatoes
28 oz red beans (NOT chili beans or kidney beans!)
2 lbs ground sirloin
1 packet Williams original chili seasoning
Salt to taste
Shredded cheddar cheese
The secret to this recipe is to let it simmer for a long time! It’s a pretty easy recipe and the secret is to let it simmer and bubble for a long time until all the flavors come together.
First grab your soup pot and brown the ground sirloin. Add the tomatoes, beans and seasoning and bring to a bubble. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for at least 45 minutes. Salt it to taste. Serve it up with cheese on top and saltine crackers! Bri likes his with a peanut butter sandwich, silly boy.
Now go watch some Football! Amen?
I'm a peanut butter sandwich with chili fan...didn't know Brian had such good taste! :-)
