So I've been sorting through a ridiculous 900+ photos that were clogging my iphone's storage this past few weeks, and have been coming across all of the projects I did before Christmas. I thought I'd get to sharing those bits of craftiness now that we're buried under a foot and a half of snow and are bunkered down at home for a while! There's only so much cleaning and baking a Mama can do right?
Back in October, Bri and I took our very first weekend trip together without Lovebug. It was a rainy fall weekend and we went to the beautiful Big Cedar Lodge in the Ozarks. Our room was amazingly cozy and it would have been the perfect trip, but unfourtunately I puked {in public} several times throughout the weekend and spent the rest of the time mostly in the big fluffly king-sized bed. We did manage to have some fun at Silver Dollar City the first day and I bought this adorable fabric all bundled together with a simple pattern at a cute little quilt shop.
I decided it would be a new cuddling quilt for my sweet girl and whipped it up a few weeks before Christmas so I could wrap it up under the tree for her. We only give her 3 gifts for Christmas and I want to always try to make one handmade. This year her Daddy re-did a beautiful doll bunk-bed for her too {post on that coming soon!} This was such a quick quilt! It doesn't need any batting, since it's a quilt-as-you-go, backed with super-soft fleece. I will say I'm not a huge fan of sewing each strip to the backing, since there were a few spots where my strips didn't get tacked down and I had to fix them after it was all 'done.' I only quilted once or twice per strip, and spent an evening hand sewing the binding. It's 45x 60inches finished, and it's even big enought for Mama to get under when we snuggle up in the morning.
My sweet girl caught an awful bug on Christmas Day and spent a week curled up under it, watching movies and sleeping on and off. I'm just glad she loves it so much, and it's had PLENTY of use this winter!

Finally... a few Bump Pics {Baby Sissy}
I'm definitely not on track with the weekly bump pics like I was with our sweet Lovebug... I suppose that happens with Babies #2 and on? Baby Sissy {our nickname for her} is keeping me on my toes!
This pregnancy started out so similarly. The nausea hit right as I found out at 5 weeks, and I even ate all the same things- saltines and lemon water, bland foods, and no coffee {gasp!} But then the sickness went on and on. My wonderful OB finally convinced me (and my insurance co) that it was Hypermesis and that I'd need a full script of Zofran {miracle drug.} Slowly, my appetite for normal foods has come back and I'm drinking my beloved Starbucks again {decaf} and craving chocolate like there's no tomorrow! I'm thinking this sweet girl may be a little more on the chunky side... And that's FINE with me!
My favorite thing about being pregnant with baby #2 has been imagining the sweet sister relationship she's gonna have! Lovebug has been taking her baby dolls EVERYWHERE lately! She's such a good little Mama and I can't wait to see the love she has for her Baby Sissy! When we ask her where Baby Sissy is, she points to my belly and gives it kisses! So precious.
I also wonder how my heart can grow anymore than it did when our girl came into the world. I know it will--but it amazes me how instead of having to share the love I already know how to give, God just creates more--such a beautiful picture of the love he has for us.
Time is flying by with this pregnancy. I'm working on updating the girls' room {LOVE saying that} and have picked out the pattern and fabric for Baby Sissy's quilt too. I'm so happy to have caught the nesting bug! So many beautiful things to buy from Etsy and to sew and create. I want to welcome my sweet little one into the same special handmade space that welcomed Lovebug.
I'm off to dream up more ideas!

He's Always Been Faithful...
Well hello there!
I know it's been super quiet around here lately. I've even heard from a few of you, asking why I "quit blogging." I'll admit that there was certainly a time when I wasn't sure I would even blog again, ever. I just didn't have the creative energy or the desire to pour out into words all that has been going on.
The sad thing is, there has been SO MUCH GOOD in my life. I've been seriously convicted that sharing the ways God has BLESSED our little family, and his constant GOODNESS and GRACE is so important. We need to encourage each other and remind others that even in the rough spots, God is FAITHFUL. ALWAYS. I'm reminded of lyrics by Sara Groves [one of my favorite song writers]
"Morning by morning I wake up to find the power and comfort of God's hand in mine. Season by season I watch him amazed, in awe of the mystery of his perfect ways. All I have need of his hand will provide. He's always been faithful to me."
The fact of the matter is, that the Hypermesis [constant nausea and vomiting during the duration of pregnancy] is here to stay. I kept waiting for the sickness to be OVER and THEN I'd get crafting, blogging, nesting, etc. Well folks, God is GOOD. He has provided me with medicine to help keep food down - and seriously limit the amount of vomiting. He has given me a wonderful family and devoted Husband to support me and help take care of my sweet girl. He's given me friends and a Church family to pray for me and care about me.
Most importantly is the fact that I am So. Incredibly. Blessed. to be carrying this sweet baby--and no amount of discomfort will change that! I am often stopped in my tracks, to the point of tears and reminded of this truth. I'm truly blessed to be Lovebug's Mama and I'm blessed to be given the opportunity to once again care for a precious gift from God.
So I'm here to stay... maybe not posting frequently, but still here.
My babies.
